From our trip research in London I was able collect useful images as well as lookbooks for the Spring/Summer collection 2013 that will help me in futher work.

 Roberto Cavalli
What I found capturvating about this image was the style of the trousers and the prints used in their Spring Summer collection 2013.

Another picture from the 2013 collection is this photograph and what I admire is the detailed pattern on the Jacket as well as the botton features on the trousers which I believe make them more sophisticated and eye catching.

Comparing my jacket to the one in the MaxMara 2013 A/W collection during fashion week I would say that there are similar features. Such as the botton use for the neckline as well as the big hood. The big pockets on the side also add to the jacket making it more practical.

Primark

This jacket caught my attention because of the detailed quilted pattern on this sleeveless quilted jacket.
This is similar to the quilted jacket in the Sandro collection for winter 2012. The quilted design is an ideal feature for spring jackets.

Other features to take notice of are the zip pockets which we can see a lot of.

The same style of trousers seen in Topshop; from £40 to £16. Indicates Primark's ability to reach a wider generation of people with lower prices.

Patterns

I was interested in the different colours and patterns that the trousers came in.

One thing to take notice of in Primark is the prices, however this is reflected in the garments, as I found loose threads in some of them. Doing this researched showed that qaulity is generally reflected in price. The more the money, the more you will get out of your garment.

Topshop

Topshop.

For the middle class market shoppers, I came to Topshop. With prices
defiantly lower than designer clothing there was good quality to be seen in the clothing. No holes or loose pieces of threads.

What I liked about this jacket was the zip pockets. The price also seemed reasonable, if it were to last a long time.

Other features that I took notice of.

Buttons are shown to be good decoration features and not just functional.

I noticed this cigarette trousers which did look similar to my trousers and also had the fastenings.

Visit to Oxford Street

To gain more understanding on the pratical processes within designing. I will be going to Oxford Street to observe fabric selctions along with other features such as components and other additional features for design or decoration. We were to assess these on different levels of fashion, from designer to high street fashion.

Zip Pockets

By looking at the images above, you can cleary see the high quality and richness in the colours.  Plus the different feaures, and expensive luxury fabrics used to produce high proformance in the clothing. The prices however were not seen on the clothing as this is the shopping style of the upper class. Mainly because it is seen as a lower class thing to have prices on garments.

The Trousers

This two and three quater lenght trouses, are of good quality and detail when you get a closer look into the design. Being made from cotton and elastine, this combination makes it a lasting garment.

This pair of trousers also contains two different types of pockets; two at the front and two at the back.

With inserted pockets at the front; I however found that the back pockets are actaully fake, which isn't a great deal as it makes the trousers more eye-catching with different feaures to look at.

Their are three different fastening features on this garment. One is the button which is common to most trousers aswell as the zip; and hook and eye which is mostly seen in formal trousers. This is usually done so that no fastenings have to be added to the outside of the garment, so it has a more refined and classy look.

If we look closely at the detail we would find that, these trousers would be used for formal occassions even though it is made from cotton, becuase of the level of detail that the design displays.

At the bottom of the trousers there are small slits about 8cm long.

From the Burberry 2013 Ready-to-wear Pre Spring collection I selected these to shots.
In the photo on the left the model is wearing a high waisted 2 and 3 quarter trouser which also have slits on the side. What caught my eye in this images was the style - the trousers being high waisted and also the colour.

Jacket Insideout

The Jacket is lined with nylon which is lightweight making it more conviente when removing and putting on. With polyester linning it is also insulating, making it suitable for cold weather.

Another feature which can be seen more cleary from the inside, is the drawstring that adjusts the tightness the wearer would wish to have the jacket.

This is to be adjust from inside the garment so it is not visible from the outside.

Jacket Fastenings

There are also two types of pockets which I took notice of. These are fastened with buttons.
Other places were the same button is used is on the sleeves as an adjustment feature.

Included in the features were two fastenings which include a zip and buttons. On in the inside of the jacket there is also a drawstring to tighted the waist so it has a firmer grip on the wearer. (which can be seen on the bottom left). These are all feaures that can be found in an ideal parka jacket.

The Jacket

Due to the limited range that was around me I had to settled for this casaul jacket that seems to be complex in structure; however, because of this type of design it should reveal some interesting levels of construction.

By looking at the back we can see the seams that run along the edge of the garment as well as on the shoulder line, and these seams can also be referred to as a decoration feature as well as a construction seam.

For a Next product,  it has been made well. Looking into every detail, there was no evidence of loose threads or holes found in the jacket showing its good qaulity and durability .
